Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool have recalled goalkeeper Danny Ward from his loan spell with Aberdeen.

The 22-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership side on a season-long deal in June, a week after signing a new contract with the Reds.

And the good form that saw Ward subsequently rack up 12 clean sheets in 29 appearances for the Pittodrie club has prompted Klopp to bring him back to Melwood for the remainder of the campaign.

"It was an easy decision because we watched the improvement and development of Danny at Aberdeen and it's a moment where we have to make decisions about all the players," the manager said at a press conference on Monday.

"Some of them are our players but on loan and, in the case of Danny, we thought it was a good idea to get him back so that's what we did."

Ward has yet to make his competitive senior debut for the Reds, but appeared on the bench 23 times throughout the 2014-15 season.
