Toni Gomes and Yan Dhanda were on the mark as Liverpool U18s kicked-off their tour of Ireland with a 2-0 win over Cork City on Saturday night.

Both sides gave a good account of themselves in front of a healthy crowd of 4,355 at the Turner's Cross Ground.

Reds U18s boss Neil Critchley took the opportunity to utilise his whole squad with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Corey Whelan and Callum Nicholas all involved.

Portugese youngster Gomes fired the Reds into the lead after 14 minutes and Dhanda added the second on 71 minutes.

Reflecting on the victory, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "We were very good for the majority of the game and there's lots of positives to take from the performance.

"Toni and Yan took their goals really well and it was a great start to our pre-season programme.

"The people of Cork have made us feel very welcome and they really looked after us. We were delighted to come out here and it was fantastic for the young lads to play in front of a crowd of over 4,000 supporters."
