White excited by new challenge

Matt Beard made a welcome boost to his squad with the capture of the striker on Thursday, with the deal subject to international clearance.

With Nicole Rolser moving back to Germany to play for Bayern Munich, White will provide extra ammunition to the attack.

As the Ladies prepare to return to Women's Super League action at Arsenal on Sunday evening, White admits she can't wait to get started in a red shirt.

Rosie, welcome to Liverpool. How did it feel to sign for the club?

Thank you. It's awesome feeling, it's really exciting to sign my first professional contract and for such a massive, awesome club. It's pretty exciting.

When were you first made aware of the club's interest?

It all happened really fast for me! I was approached a couple of weeks ago which started the ball rolling, it all happened within a week, then I was ready to pack my bags and come along.

For those that don't know you, could you describe what type of player you are?

I'm a pretty attacking-minded player. I like to come off the front and turn, be direct, take chances and try to create goal-scoring opportunities.

Have you watched the side and how they've been getting on in the WSL?

Yeah. As soon as I started thinking about coming over to England I was doing a bit of research and seeing how the team was doing, but I haven't had a chance to see any games first-hand, but I'm really looking forward to getting amongst it.

What else do you know about your new teammates?

I knew a few of them through friends-of-friends and that sort of stuff, but I've started getting to know everyone as of last week. It's cool to get to know everyone on a more personal level.

You've only been in the country a week, but have you had a chance to see the city as you settle?

Yeah, it's kind of crazy to think I've only been here a week as it feels I've been here much longer. I've been in the city a few times and had a chance to hang out with the girls and get settled. It's been a really smooth transition for me and I'm looking forward to spending more time here.

Could you give us a brief run down about your career so far?

Most of my career has been spent in New Zealand, when I had finished high-school I moved over the States to go to the University UCLA were I spent four years there, until the end of last year, during that time I was (also) playing with the New Zealand U20s.

This will be the third major move in your career. What made you opt for Liverpool?

I've always wanted to play in Europe and the English league is always something I've wanted to do; Liverpool being such a fantastic and massive club, and looking at the success they've had over the last couple of years, it was kind of hard to say no to a club like this.

What inspired you to become a footballer?

I've always played football ever since I was a young one! My brother was playing when I was around 4 or 5, that's when I started playing, I've always loved it and I haven't stopped!

How aware are you of the club's history and worldwide reach?

Obviously I had heard of Liverpool and knew what a huge club it is, but I never thought I'd be able to play for a club like Liverpool. It's really exciting to be able put that shirt on and be wearing the Liverpool gear, it's just really exciting.

You join a Liverpool side that are reigning champions and will play in the Champions League later this year. How excited are you at the prospect of being a part of that?

Yeah, that's always been a goal of mine to play in the Champions League and to come into a side that's in there makes me feel pretty lucky. I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to play in it, for sure.

You arrive following the recent success of the England team in that tournament. How hopeful are you that it will attract new fans to come and watch women's football?

I can only imagine the sort of hype that would create in England, I'm hoping that will raise the awareness of the Women's game. If that can create more fans and atmosphere around our games, that'll be awesome.

You've signed just before the restart of the WSL season, how eager are you now to pull on the Liverpool shirt and get into action?

Definitely, really really eager, especially after a little bit of disappoint with the New Zealand team it's so refreshing to be part of a new team and a new environment. Going into the second half of the season, I'm really eager to get going.

Finally, have you got a message for your new fans?

Thanks for having me! I'm really stoked to be a part of this time and be a part of this club, hopefully I can be a good player. I'm really excited.
