Jordan Henderson hopes Liverpool fans can continue their 'outstanding' support and help him see off strong competition to claim a spot on the cover of FIFA 16 in the UK and Ireland.

The midfielder is up against Sergio Aguero, Thibaut Courtois and Harry Kane in the race to join Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi on the front of the popular EA SPORTS game.

With the deadline set for tonight, Kopites still have time to back the No.14, who has been overwhelmed by the efforts on his behalf.

Henderson said: "The support that has been given to me has been outstanding. I've been surprised, to be honest.

"It will be a big thing for whoever gets on the front cover. As a kid when you play FIFA, you never even dream about you being on the front cover and to have that opportunity is amazing really.

"You never know, there are some top players in there and whoever gets on it, it will be a big thing for them."

As well as Liverpool fans, teammates, fellow professionals and a number of celebrities have been quick to drum up support for Henderson.

He added: "It's a bit surreal, to be honest, for them to be tweeting and putting it on Instagram to vote for me, and for a Liverpool player to be on the front cover as well. It means a lot and hopefully I can get over the line."
