Andre Wisdom is determined to use the signing of his new long-term Liverpool contract as an opportunity to stake his claim for regular first-team action in 2015-16.

Having spent the duration of the current campaign on loan at West Bromwich Albion, making 24 Barclays Premier League appearances, the England U21 defender has returned to Anfield.

Upon doing so, Wisdom immediately committed his future to the club with a fresh deal and is already looking forward to starting back up again with Liverpool and adding to the 22 first-team games he's already played for Brendan Rodgers.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "Committing my long-term future to Liverpool was an easy decision to make.

"The club are in my heart and I can't wait to get going again here. I'm already looking forward to pre-season training and linking back up with all the lads.

"I definitely picked up some good experience at West Brom and I am grateful to them for the opportunity they gave me and the faith they showed in me.

"But now I'm looking forward to challenging for a place back here at Liverpool.

"This is one of the world's biggest football clubs and it's an honour to be a part of it.

"It's fantastic news for me and my family for me to have signed a new contract here and now I want to work hard and try to compete for places again."
