Jordan Henderson insists the Liverpool squad are desperate to end their season on a real high at Stoke City on Sunday, and send the travelling Kop home to Merseyside with a win.

With it being the last game and a mindset of a summer break and holiday time entering the players' thoughts, Henderson stressed there is an important job to be done before the squad can start to relax.

Asked about the end-of-season holiday factor, Henderson told Liverpoolfc.com: "That can be an issue, but this week training has been very good, everyone has worked hard and we've worked very well to be honest.

"It's been very positive. Obviously it was a disappointing result and performance against Crystal Palace, especially the second half, so we need to make sure we go to Stoke with a good mindset and finish the season off with a good performance and three points.

"We want a reaction after last weekend because everyone was disappointed so the reaction has been good.

"We've been good in training so we want to take that into the game and finish on a positive note."

Stoke City have had another impressive season of progression under the tutelage of Mark Hughes.

Already guaranteed a ninth-placed finish, the Potters are also looking to end the season on a positive frame in front of their own passionate supporters.

Henderson acknowledges Liverpool will have to be at their best to take the three points.

He added: "Stoke are a good side and over the season have played some good stuff. They are a bit different to the old Stoke style, because they can play at times but they can also be direct as well. They have some good players.

"It will be a difficult game for us, especially going to their place, but we are a good team with good players, and if we can go there and put in the performance that I know we can then we can get a good result.

"I'm sure they will be right up for it as well, it's their last home game and they will want to finish on a high.

"I don't think it will be a game where everybody is thinking about their holidays because both teams want to win and finish on a good note to put us in good stead for next season."
