Another clean sheet for Simon Mignolet at the weekend has increased the Belgian's chances of scooping the Golden Glove award and earned him praise from Brendan Rodgers.

The goalkeeper assumed a watching brief for large periods of Saturday's goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion, but produced a fine save when called upon in the second half.

When James Morrison sent a header drifting towards the bottom right corner, Mignolet sprung to his left and palmed away with fingertips, allowing Dejan Lovren to clear fully.

Including his clean sheet as an early substitute at Burnley on Boxing Day, the No.22 has now recorded 14 Barclays Premier League shut-outs this season.

He is therefore well placed to secure the individual accolade, with five games still to play for the Reds - a testament to his superb turnaround in form during 2015.

"I always felt he was an outstanding 'keeper," said the manager, who signed the stopper in the summer of 2013. "It's why we took him here.

"It's never easy for players when you come to Liverpool, with such huge expectancy. The levels that you're judged on are very high.

"I've been delighted with Simon since he's come back into the team, he's shown wonderful ability, a wonderful assurance.

"He didn't have much to do [at West Brom] but the one save he had he showed great agility and made the save, so I've been delighted with him."
