With Liverpool one victory away from a date at Wembley, Alberto Moreno has delivered a timely desire to make a lasting contribution for the club he joined last summer.

In 33 appearances to date, the Spanish defender has quickly endeared himself to Reds fans courtesy of his high-energy, fast-paced performances on the left flank.

His transition to English football following a switch from Sevilla and La Liga has been smooth and Brendan Rodgers' 3-4-3 formation has allowed Moreno to flourish.

As the closing months of the No.18's maiden campaign on Merseyside loom into view, though, he is thinking about more than just impressing in matches. Much more.

"The club have put their trust in me by putting me in the side right from the beginning and I've played regularly," said Moreno.

"I hope I can do enough to make sure my name will remain etched into Liverpool's history a little bit, alongside some of the great players who have played here."

Liverpool could move a step closer to tangible success by overcoming Blackburn Rovers in their FA Cup quarter-final clash at Anfield this afternoon.

Should they do so, a last four contest at Wembley would be added to the fixture schedule and the chances of lifting a trophy this season would strengthen.

The FA Cup has lived up to its reputation for shock results in 2014-15, however, so Moreno and his teammates will banish any threat of complacency.

"There are lots of surprises, that is one thing that has hit me since I've been in England," continued the 22-year-old.

"We always have the same attitude whether we are playing against a team from the Premier League, the third level, or even the fifth level of English football.

"We will be focused, we will be at it.

"We know this Sunday is no exception, we need to go out there with our five senses totally ready and focused. Over here any team can hurt you."

Moreno will hope to resume his position at left wing-back in Rodgers' thriving set-up for the visit of the Championship outfit.

The 3-4-3 formation has been crucial in transforming the Reds' fortunes, to the point that they have now only tasted defeat twice in the past 21 matches.

Given his natural verve for attacking from his starting berth, it's an approach that Moreno has embraced and believes is of benefit to the entire XI.

He said: "You have to be honest and say we weren't too consistent at the start of the season, our form was a little bit in and out and probably we dropped some points where we shouldn't have been dropping points.

"I think we have always tried to play with high tempo but what is happening now is the manager is insisting on us playing a tempo as much as we can, and the new system we are playing has helped us intensify the play even more.

"The system allows us to get lots of bodies forward when we are attacking, but we are safe in the knowledge of having three centre-backs who are going to be covering as well as the two deeper-lying midfield players.

"If we need to lend a hand as well, the wing-backs you can call them, we can drop back and support as well as get forward and support the attack."

In Liverpool's last FA Cup outing, there were two key talking points after the game.

The second-half fightback that earned a 2-1 result over Crystal Palace, of course, but also the scenes of celebration that followed an equaliser by Daniel Sturridge.

As the No.15 began his trademark dance movements, he was joined by Moreno, who had picked up tips on rhythm from his colleague at training earlier in the week.

He added: "We had the idea in a training session and we practised a bit in training whenever Daniel scores. It's only if he scores - not if I score. Ever!

"I just joined in against Palace and apparently people liked it. I hope they don't like me just for my dancing. I would much rather they like me for how I play!"
