Liverpool FC have today announced plans to subsidise tickets by £10 for the away match against Manchester United on Sunday December 14.

The subsidy is part of a Barclays Premier League initiative where each club allocates £200,000 to a fund to be used specifically to improve the away supporters' experience and maintain away attendances.

Liverpool's first-team players have also contributed to the fund, which provides additional support for away fans and has directly helped supplement the discount for this game.

Following consultation with the Liverpool FC Supporters' Committee, it was agreed that the best approach to take to reward travelling fans would be a ticket price reduction.

Bob Humphries, chair of the Supporters' Committee, said: "We are pleased with this reduction and are certain that it will be welcomed by fans, particularly in the run-up to Christmas, which can be an expensive time for many.

"The Supporters' Committee will continue to liaise directly with fans on behalf of the club to determine what they will most benefit from and also to ensure the fund is maximised."
