Kolo Toure was celebrating on Wednesday after Ivory Coast secured a place at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Elephants were held to a 0-0 draw by Cameroon in their sixth and final Group C qualifying fixture – but the point earned was enough to clinch them a place at the finals.

Cameroon topped the group with 14 points, Ivory Coast finished second with 10, DR Congo third with nine and Sierra Leone bottom with a single point.

Toure's side went in search of a victory at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan on Wednesday, despite needing only a point to progress from the qualifiers.

In the 57th minute, the encounter came to life. Gervinho ran through on goal and was floored by Stephane M'bia. The Cameroon man was dismissed with a second yellow card before Yaya Toure's resulting free-kick was cleared off the line.

Gervinho threatened again shortly after, combining with Salomon Kalou and firing straight at Fabrice Ondoa. Minutes later a goal-line scramble ensued, with Cameroon eventually managing to clear the danger.

As the clock ticked down, Toure ensured his side maintained their clean sheet and when the final whistle blew, Ivory Coast had the requisite draw to book their place at next year's tournament.
