Robbie Fowler made it a very special day for lifelong LFC fan Mary Chambers, when he paid a visit on the eve of her 100th birthday.

The Liverpool ambassador attended Dovehaven Maple Lodge Nursing Home in Halewood to join in with the early celebrations and present Mary with a personalised LFC jersey.

Mary, who is 100 years old today (Friday), held a season ticket for more than 60 years, and followed the club throughout their famous European triumphs.

She first purchased her Liverpool season ticket in 1950 with her husband Gardner for just £7 and recalls her favourite player being Billy Liddell.

Mary, who still listens to every Liverpool game on her headphones, said: "I've been supporting Liverpool since 1933 and I believe following football has kept me in good health as well as chocolate and brandy."

Fowler enjoyed hearing about some of Mary's LFC adventures and posed for pictures with Mary and some of her 28 grandchildren.

He said: "It was a real privilege to meet Mary who is a true supporter. I know what the club really means to people and if I can make anybody happy I'm all for that, particularly people like Mary who went to the game for well over 60 years."
