It seems fitting that days after a masterful performance against Tottenham Hotspur, the anniversary should fall of another dominating display against Spurs.

Back in 1978 Bob Paisley's European champions had begun the season in fine fettle, with three straight victories that saw them shoot straight to the top of the first division where they remain for the entire campaign.

On September 2, 1978, a Spurs side featuring the likes of Ossie Ardilles, Ricky Villa and Glenn Hoddle arrived at Anfield only to be trounced 7-0 in front of over 50,000 supporters who were treated to a host of special strikes throughout the afternoon.

The icing on the cake was sealed by a magnificent headed goal by Terry McDermott which is still today described in many parts as the best goal ever seen at Anfield.

One man who sat alongside Paisley in the dugout that day was Roy Evans, who recalls the day in our LFCTV GO exclusive video feature.
