Local youngsters taking part in the Liverpool FC Foundation's Respect 4 All summer camp received a treat when Reds star Jon Flanagan paid them a special visit.

Our No.38 joined fellow defender Ryan McLaughlin and Liverpool Ladies star Martha Harris as they met with a group of participants enjoying their final summer football coaching session at North Liverpool Academy.

The trio presented the participants, who all regularly attend the Foundation's Respect 4 All Programme, with certificates and LFC goodies.

The Respect 4 All programme, which run five days a week during school term time, delivers free impairment-specific multi-sport classes to more than 200 children and adults in Liverpool and Wirral every week.

The classes cater for children (eight to 16) and adults with severe learning difficulties, visual and physical impairment (ambulant) and wheelchair users.

Flanagan said: "It was great to visit the summer camp today and see all the participants having fun and enjoying their sports. Presenting them with their certificates to recognise their continued hard work over the summer was really rewarding for me."

The programme, which was established in 2004, is based at St Margaret's CE School in Aigburth, Liverpool and Woodchurch High School in Wirral.

Mark Haig, Liverpool FC Foundation's head of operations, said: "It was fantastic for Jon, Martha and Ryan to visit one of our summer camps today and meet some Respect 4 All participants.

"A visit like this really encourages youngsters to keep active and this regular physical activity has real health benefits. The camps are always great fun with a lot of laughter and to meet three of the players today gave such a boost to those attending."
