Liverpool legends Terry McDermott and Alan Kennedy have given their thoughts to LFCTV GO on the new Barclays Premier League season, revealing the players they're most looking forward to seeing back out on the pitch.

But whilst attacking flair was the Reds' calling card last season and despite numerous additions to Brendan Rodgers' forward line, both ex-players focused their attentions on matters at the opposite end of the pitch.

McDermott singled out inspirational captain Steven Gerrard who he insists, after announcing his international retirement, could well be set to enjoy another evergreen season.

"Steven runs the team and for the past 15 years has been our best player, so if he keeps himself fit and sharp it will be a big boost for Liverpool," said McDermott.

Kennedy, on the other hand, picked out one of Rodgers' new arrivals who experienced a memorable club debut against Borussia Dortmund last weekend.

Kennedy said: "For me, Dejan Lovren coming in is a big bonus. He's a well organised player and a bit like Jamie Carragher did, he likes to talk to players and tell them where to go and what to do."

LFCTV GO subscribers can see what else McDermott and Kennedy had to say on the Reds' chances this season, the teams to beat and who they think will make up the top four positions come May in the video below.
