With the new season just days away, LFCTV GO has been catching up with ex-players and staff behind the scenes at the club to get their thoughts on a huge campaign ahead for Brendan Rodgers and his team.

Jason McAteer was the first to offer his assessment of the Reds' chances this year, who he thinks the teams to beat will be and which players in particular he's looking forward to seeing in action again.

"I'm very much looking forward to seeing the likes of Adam Lallana, the progression of Raheem Sterling and to see if Jordon Ibe can push for a first-team place," he said.

"For me, Sterling looks as though he feels he belongs in the first team now; he's developed very well and we're seeing the best of him.

"I'm also looking forward to seeing Daniel Sturridge become the main striker. Being the main man, I think, will help him flourish and I'm expecting a big season from him."
