Joe Allen is looking to add more goals to his game after opening the scoring for the Reds during their 2-0 victory over AC Milan.

The Welsh midfielder played an integral role in the build-up to the Reds' first goal - which he finished - after his energetic pressing won the ball superbly from Michael Essien, deep in Milan territory.

After initially hitting the post, Allen followed up Raheem Sterling's rebounded effort to finish neatly, setting the Reds on the path to clinching their third win in a row after disposing of Olympiacos and Manchester City.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com about his goal after the game, Allen said: "I should have finished the first chance really but I thankfully got a second chance and put it away.

"It's always something that I'll look to improve on - I need to add more [goals] to my game."

Liverpool's impressive form during the North American tour means the team will now head to Miami to take part in the final of the Guinness International Champions Cup, and Allen believes the form is down to the quick-gelling and the excellent togetherness within the squad.

"The positive thing is no matter what changes we make to the team or formation, we seem to be doing really well," said Allen.

"Everyone looks in good nick and getting up to speed in good time.

"[Pre-season] is good to gel and it is important - it's a big part of any football season. You miss your family obviously, but you get the chance to sample experiences like this.

"It's hard work no matter how you look at it, but you'd rather get your fitness up in games than in double [training] sessions."

It's on to Miami now for Liverpool where Allen anticipates another great atmosphere.

"I'm sure it will be another great occasion, and despite being pre-season, it is a cup final and we all want to win."
