Liverpool Football Club today welcomed 10 new apprentices who will work across various departments at the club.

The apprentices will form part of a co-ordinated apprenticeship programme for LFC and will be working with teams across a wide range of functions during their year-long placements including, LFC shops, marketing, catering and hospitality through to LFCTV and Liverpoolfc.com.

Working closely with training providers Wirral Metropolitan College, Sysco and Liverpool City Region Skills for Growth, the club will benefit from their skills whilst helping them begin their careers.

It is an opportunity for Liverpool to provide experience and guidance to young people and helping to support employment across the city region.

Advertising through the National Apprenticeship Service, the club received a high calibre of applicants.

Short-listed candidates went through a rigorous selection process in order to be part of the final 10 selected.

Ian Ayre, chief executive officer at Liverpool Football Club, said: "Employing apprentices is just one element of our wider talent strategy, designed to attract the very best skills to the Club.

"It's fantastic that we can provide this opportunity for young people who are just starting out on their chosen career paths, helping them to pursue their goals and improve their opportunities for employment. We also get the benefit of reaping the rewards that having fresh, new talent and thinking can inevitably bring."
