Liverpool youngster Ryan McLaughlin has been called up by Northern Ireland for their forthcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Chile.

The defender, who is 20 in September, could make his international debut against Anfield teammate Luis Suarez in Montevideo on May 30, before Michael O'Neill's side take on Chile in Valparaiso on June 4.

McLaughlin, who spent the final part of last season getting experience on loan at Barnsley, started the friendly clash with Shamrock Rovers last week in Dublin.

The Belfast born right-back is still awaiting his official first team debut.
