Rodgers: How I'll approach the finale
Ahead of an afternoon which could conclude with Liverpool in first, second or third place in the Barclays Premier League, Brendan Rodgers delivered a singular message: win our game and see what happens.
The Reds bring an unforgettable campaign to a close when they host Newcastle United on Sunday, with an opportunity to sieze the championship still a possibility should they claim victory and favourable results unfold elsewhere.
In addition to taking three points from their own fixture, the Northern Irishman's charges would require West Ham United to secure a victory at the home of Manchester City to dramatically overturn the current standings at the summit.
While supporters in attendance at Anfield and those following events around the world will adopt a dual focus to keep track of both ties, the mentality drummed into his players by Rodgers is that the clash with the Magpies should be all-consuming.
The boss said at his pre-match press conference: "First and foremost, we can only concentrate on our job - our job is to win the game. Alan [Pardew] will come and want to finish the season strongly.
"We know that it's a tough game, but the combination of us at home and our supporters has been fantastic. For us, to get 16 wins out of 19 at the weekend would pencil in a great return for us at home."
Discussing the ultimate chapter of a Premier League title race which has featured numerous twists and turns before the closing denouement, Rodgers added: "It's certainly not over.

"West Ham have got some really talented players; if you can go to Tottenham and win 3-0, you can certainly go to Manchester City and win - especially with guys like big Andy [Carroll] up front, with the quality that he has.
"They have got a really good defensive record; 14 clean sheets show that they are a very difficult team to play against. But our focus is on ourselves and if we do that job, then I'll be happy.
"The expectancy is that Manchester City will win, but it certainly won't be easy for them, going into that last game - no matter what result you need. They'll want to win the game but West Ham will want to finish on a high note as well and they know they have the players that can cause problems."
In the Reds' previous 18 home league fixtures this season, Kopites have witnessed 15 victories and 51 goals, as Rodgers has masterminded a series of frenetic and clinical performances in L4.
That philosophy will not waver this weekend either; indeed, the manager's primary target is purely to produce a fitting conclusion to nine months which have thrilled all with ties to Liverpool.
The boss commented: "We can only take care of ourselves; tick our box, to win the game and finish off on 84 points, and finish off - however it ends up - a remarkable season for us."
