Sakho: We'll look at it at the end
Liverpool won't be paying too much attention to results elsewhere this weekend as they continue to gear up for Crystal Palace, insists Mamadou Sakho.
Before the Reds tackle the Eagles on Monday night, Manchester City will travel to Goodison Park to face Everton this evening and Chelsea play host to Norwich City on Sunday.
But while many will be taking a keen interest in the outcome of both matches, Sakho claims Brendan Rodgers' squad will be fully focused on their next task in hand.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I think that we have to concentrate on our own job. After the season ends we can look at everyone else's results.
"For now we need to remain focused on our job, do our own work, and for the moment not look at anything else.
"First we have to concentrate on our own work and make sure we do it really well and at the end of the season we can look at the final table."
Sakho has experience of tussling at the top of the table at the business end of a campaign from his time in France with Paris St Germain.
However, he feels it is the squad's collective experiences that will help them over the final two matches, as opposed to any individual's.
"I think that to help the team you need my experience, as well as Steven Gerrard's, Martin Skrtel's, Mignolet, Johnson - the entire team! And the manager's too," he said.
"You need everyone's experience, and it's fair to say that everyone's individual experience will help the entire group to get over that psychological hurdle in order to remain totally concentrated during these two games, because what really counts are those six points.
"We shouldn't be looking at the other results because City might possibly get a result that is favourable to us but then we don't concentrate and we fail to pick up the three points. So the main thing is to remain focused on ourselves and our own game."
Meanwhile, Sakho admits he'd love the chance to repeat his heroics for France earlier this season for Liverpool over the next couple of matches games.
The 24-year-old struck two goals in Les Bleus' historic 3-0 win over Ukraine in November to help them overturn a two-goal first-leg deficit in World Cup qualifying play-off.
"I guess it's down to fate," Sakho replied, when asked if he'd fancy scoring a goal of such importance for Liverpool in the run in. "We'll see. I think you just have to believe and have faith in destiny.
"I think Liverpool have had a great season and we'll see what happens over the next two games.
"First and foremost, I have to concentrate on my defensive duties and if God gives me the chance to help the team by scoring a goal, I would do so with great pleasure."
