Simon: We can't take things for granted

Brendan Rodgers' team have swatted aside the vast majority of sides to have run out at Anfield in 2013-14, with only Southampton and Aston Villa departing L4 with anything to boast about.

Indomitable form on their own ground has been a fundamental element of the Reds' rise to the summit of the Barclays Premier League - and will be required once again on Sunday.

For Chelsea - the team who trail Liverpool by five points at the very top of the division - are the next travelling opponents to challenge Rodgers' outfit, in a heavyweight encounter later today.

While Mignolet and co are keen to stretch their strong record at the stadium by securing a positive result against the Blues, the Belgian highlighted how nothing will be taken for granted come kick-off.

"It's always important to have a good record at home when you play in the Premier League," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "With the support we have from our fans at the moment, it's going very well.

"But I don't think: 'We're definitely going to win.' Every game is different. We've got the home advantage, but it doesn't mean we have to take it for granted.

"We'll do our best again and hopefully we can keep that record going, because that's more important that what's been."

In their most recent home fixture, the Reds drew on the indefatigable spirit within the group to forget the squandering of a two-goal lead against Manchester City and produce a late winner.

Joe Allen recently spoke of the 'incredible will to win' around the camp, and Mignolet echoed that sentiment by accentuating the strength of togetherness shared by Rodgers' players.

The No.22 continued: "Throughout the season, there have been certain moments when you would think we were going to lose the game or end up dropping points.

"But we always got through that mentally and physically, fought until the end. The team spirit and the unity in the dressing room has helped us to get through those moments. That's very important.

"In certain moments when we were struggling, we stuck together and dug the result out.

"We have certain individuals who scored the goals and helped the team, but it made us stronger and it can only be for the better for the future."

When Liverpool and Chelsea met earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge, it was Jose Mourinho's side who ultimately triumphed with a 2-1 scoreline in West London.

But Mignolet does not dwell on what has previously happened and expects the last result between the two rivals to have no bearing on their latest meeting.

He added: "Playing away from home is a totally different picture than at home; every game has to be played, every game is a totally different game.

"And I'm sure it will be like that on Sunday. Once the kick-off starts, everything else in the past or previous games will be out of the window. So we just focus on ourselves and do our best."
