Harry Wilson was on the mark as Liverpool U17s reached the final of the prestigious Aegon Futures Cup hosted by Ajax in Amsterdam.

Neil Critchley's side will now face hosts Ajax on Monday morning in the showpiece final.

The young Reds beat AC Milan in the semi-final with Wilson, Jack Watts and a penalty from Sheyi Ojo sealing the victory.

Earlier on in the tournament Critchley's charges, featuring 17-year-old Jordan Rossiter, beat Brazilian outfit Corinthians 4-0 in their opening match.

Despite a 1-0 defeat to Celtic in their second outing, they responded brilliantly with a 2-0 win over Ajax to set up the last four clash with AC Milan.

The matches are played on a 30 minutes each way basis and the Academy side have played some fantastic football en route to the final.

Five years ago a Liverpool squad containing the likes of Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady and Jack Robinson competed in this tournament, and the club were proud to be asked to return this year.

Superbly hosted by Ajax, the tournament features some of the best young teams from all over the world and the Reds have given a great account of themselves.

Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "The boys have done brilliantly and we are delighted to have reached the final.

"Besides the second half against Celtic we have performed very well in all of the games and it has been good for the lads tactically to have played against different systems.

"We have played some good football and hopefully that can continue in the final."
