A group of Liverpool musicians have joined forces to produce a special single which hails the Reds' imperious recent form and celebrates the terrace anthem that is fast becoming the soundtrack to this remarkable season at Anfield.

The idea of a music producer named 'The Local Stigmatic', the track - titled 'We Are Liverpool (Poetry in Motion)' - generated huge interest after initially being released as a ringtone last month and reaching No.1 spot in the relevant UK chart.

In a novel twist by the creators of the single, the chorus is a mix of voices sung by more than 200 contributors who were invited to add their personal vocals to the recording.

On Monday, April 7, the group, who call themselves the 'JFT96 Collective', made the song available to download via iTunes, with all profits generated to be donated to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign.

The Local Stigmatic commented: "I can't tell you how much of a labour of love this has been, and not just for me. Everyone has been working for free - the artwork, the music video - nobody has taken a penny.

"It started as a joke really, just mucking around recording the song. It's already surpassed our expectations, and the responses we're getting from the video have touched us more than you would believe. It means a lot that Liverpool fans have taken to this."
