Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that defender Glen Johnson will return to the Liverpool squad for Sunday's match against Swansea City as the boss provided the latest injury news today.

The 29-year-old has not featured for the Reds since January 18 after being ruled out indefinitely, but will be back in contention when the Welsh side visit Anfield in the Barclays Premier League.

Rodgers also shared updates on the fitness of midfielder Lucas Leiva and defender Mamadou Sakho - both of whom are progressing positively in their comebacks but not yet ready for action.

"Glen has been back training," the manager explained to reporters at his pre-match press conference from Melwood.

"According to him, he has felt as good as he has done for a long time - which is great. He has looked very good in training and he'll come into the squad.

"Lucas Leiva is recovering very well but not in the squad. Sakho is still probably a week or so away, but he's back on the field now with the rehabilitation team and working well.

"Apart from that, the squad is pretty much the same as it has been."

Left-back Jose Enrique, meanwhile, remains on the sidelines - Rodgers revealed that the Spaniard recently visited a specialist in the United States regarding his knee problem.

"Jose Enrique has been out in America," the Northern Irishman added.

"We're looking to try to put an end to his injuries this season. We have sent him out to get some specialist advice on that. But he's nowhere near playing yet."
