His prolific, unstoppable form in front of goal brings an endless stream of plaudits for Luis Suarez, but the Uruguayan would happily swap his scoring exploits for Liverpool victories.

The Reds' No.7 has fired nine times in just seven appearances in the Barclays Premier League so far this season, helping Brendan Rodgers' team secure a top-four position in the standings.

Suarez has been included on the 23-man shortlist for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'Or honour and recently contributed as his country booked their place at next summer's World Cup.

At the moment, however, winning games with Liverpool is at the forefront of the attacker's thinking.

"If I score, I am happy, if I don't score but Liverpool win, that's more important to me," he told Liverpoolfc.com when collecting the Standard Chartered Player of the Month award for November.

"People speak a lot about being top scorer. I try my best on the pitch to help the team.

"When you are a child, you hope to be at the top. Now I'm in the top 23 players in the world, it's so nice for me. It's unbelievable. It's not only for me - for the Uruguay players and Liverpool, it's perfect."

Of the 26-year-old's efforts in the current campaign, his pinpoint free-kick against Everton last weekend is arguably the finest example of Suarez's technique.

Having added another set-piece conversion to his record following five last season, has he taken over responsibility from Steven Gerrard?

Suarez explained: "When I have confidence on the pitch, I speak with Stevie. Sometimes he shoots, sometimes I do.

"Against Everton, you hope for the perfect free-kick. I think it was a nice goal. I'll try my best. If I score four or five [again], it's important to help the club."
