Goal machine Natasha Dowie fired on her international return as England women beat Belarus 6-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Liverpool No.9, who has netted a quite brilliant 19 goals in just 20 games for Matt Beard's Super League leaders, was back in the squad and came off the bench to hit the fifth goal during the rout and also provided the assist for the final effort of the day.

Anfield teammate Lucy Bronze played the full 90 minutes, Fara Williams was given a 72 minute run-out while Liverpool Ladies captain Gemma Bonner was an unused substitute.

Dowie came on as a 56th minute replacement for Everton striker Toni Duggan and it was almost two years since her last cap for England.

She told the FA.com: "I was made up to get on the scoresheet, but I should've scored two.

"It was a great performance from the girls in what was a frustrating game with them defending a lot.

"But we broke them down and I really enjoyed it when I came on.

"I'm confident at the moment, as a striker, if you're scoring goals, you're confident.

"I just want to come on and play football and the girls have made me very welcome this week. As you can see, I'm enjoying my football.

"We all want to move on now, it was a good 6-0 win and we now want to take that into the Turkey game on Thursday."

Beard will now be hoping his star players all come back unscathed from international duty when they face Turkey in their next World Cup qualifier at Fratton Park, Portsmouth on Thursday night.

Liverpool need just one point from their final game against title rivals Bristol Academy on Sunday to claim the 2013 Women's Super League title.
