Speak to Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson and the overriding message delivered by the 23-year-old is 'hard work'.

The No.14 has completed every minute of the Reds' Barclays Premier League season to date, and is approaching a century of appearances for the club.

But despite such a developing pedigree at Anfield, the England international is not taking a place in Brendan Rodgers' side for granted.

"It is obviously nice but I need to make sure that I'm working hard and make it hard for the manager to leave me out," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"There are a lot of quality players here working hard every day in training to get a starting position. Hopefully I can keep working hard and playing football."

Henderson was part of the team which secured a return to top spot in the Premier League with a 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Monday evening.

He said: "At times we controlled the game quite well and at other times they kept the ball well, so probably for the public watching it was a good game, with some good goals.

"We showed our mentality not to be beaten and could have won.

"We both, at times, dominated the ball and possession. At the start of the first half we moved it quite well then they came back into it towards the end.

"In the second half they came on a little bit more but we still had a couple of chances to get the winner. It wasn't to be but we're still undefeated so hopefully we can keep that going.

"Hopefully we can keep working hard in training and doing what we have been doing. Hopefully we can get a good result on Saturday."

Victor Moses made a goalscoring debut at the Liberty Stadium, running through the Swans defence and planting a composed finish in the bottom corner.

"I thought Victor was brilliant," Henderson reflected.

"It was his debut and he did really well; he had the beating of the full-back and obviously scored a brilliant goal as well. He has had a great start and hopefully he can keep doing that."

The midfielder also had a word for former teammate, Jonjo Shelvey, who was remarkably involved in all four goals during the pulsating Premier League fixture.

Asked if it was strange to oppose Shelvey, he added: "A little bit but not really - you don't tend to think about it too much when you're playing. I thought he did quite well, so well done to him."
