This week's edition of classic LFCCTV goes back to March 2001 when a young Steven Gerrard helped put Manchester United to the sword at Anfield.

The Scouser was at his trademark lung-busting best as the Reds set about defeating Alex Ferguson's side en route to securing Champions League qualification.

Gerrard fired Gerard Houllier's men into a first-half lead with a stunning long-range effort that left Fabien Barthez clutching at thin air.

He then supplied the assist for Robbie Fowler's effort just prior to the break before turning in a resolute defensive display after Danny Murphy was sent off with more than 20 minutes to play.
