Craig Bellamy believes the current Liverpool squad has all the ingredients for another successful period in the club's history.

The Reds have already secured the Carling Cup this season to end a six-year wait for silverware, while they'll contest an FA Cup quarter-final against Stoke City at Anfield later this month and remain in contention for a top-four finish.

And Bellamy feels he has seen enough from Kenny Dalglish's side this season to suggest they'll continue to compete for honours in the coming years.

"Talking as a Liverpool fan and not as a player, this is a good Liverpool team," said the forward.

"Sitting on the bench, I was a spectator for the Arsenal game and whenever I watch this team I like what I see.

"We played some great football. But we didn't make it count last Saturday and unfortunately a lot of games have been like that.

"We haven't got the results in the league this season that a lot of our play has deserved.

"I think the personnel are here. It's just fine margins - we're that close.

"We won the Carling Cup, we're still in the FA Cup and we've still got plenty to play for in the league. That's not a bad season.

"There's a lot to be positive about."

Bellamy was named as a substitute for Liverpool's clash with Arsenal at the weekend, and he's hoping to get the nod to start at Sunderland on Saturday.

He added: "I can't look beyond Saturday and I'm just focused on getting myself back in the team."
