Carra wants double reunion
Jamie Carragher wants Liverpool to build on their latest trophy success by securing two special reunions.
The vice-captain wants a return to Champions League football next season and is looking for a trip back down Wembley Way having played his part in ending Liverpool's six-year wait for silverware.
The 34-year-old was the second Carragher to get his hands on the Carling Cup trophy on Sunday night after his nine-year-old son James took up prime position behind Steven Gerrard to touch the prize before his dad.
And although the pair then led the manic post-match celebrations on the Wembley turf and in the away dressing room, Carragher remained typically focused when it came to looking forward and keeping a sense of perspective.
He said: "We have achieved something but there are still two targets to go for, the top four and FA Cup. The top four has been made more difficult by other results this weekend. But we want to come back here again. We want to play in the semi-final and the final.
"We should be looking to get into Europe every year through our league position rather than through winning the Carling Cup.
"It's great that we have qualified for the Europa League, of course it is, but we want to do that through our league position. The next step is trying to get back into the Champions League."
As Liverpool triumphed in the capital at the weekend, rivals such as Arsenal and Chelsea gained three points each in the quest for fourth.
The Gunners travel to Anfield this Saturday for what Carragher knows will be a massive game in terms of the race for the Champions League.
"We know it is going to be a difficult task and obviously we have got a big game coming up against Arsenal this weekend. They will be flying after the win over Tottenham. But Europe is part of our heritage and we need to be involved again."
