Jose Enrique says winning the Carling Cup is the best moment of his career to date.

The Spaniard, who arrived from Newcastle in the summer, was overwhelmed after claiming his first ever winners' medal.

The Reds were pushed all the way by Cardiff, winning on penalties after the 120 minutes ended 2-2.

Enrique told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I didn't know this feeling before. It's amazing to win something like this.

"When Cardiff scored the second, if I'm honest I thought we might lose the game, so it's an amazing feeling - I can't explain it.

"It's the best feeling I ever had in football, for sure."

Converted penalties from Stewart Downing, Glen Johnson and Dirk Kuyt were enough to see Steven Gerrard leading his teammates up the Wembley steps as victors.

Enrique doesn't mind admitting that he was relieved not to take one.

"If I had to take one, I would take one - but if I'm honest I didn't want to because I'm no good at taking penalties!" he said.

The left-back was also full of praise for the thousands of supporters who travelled from Merseyside.

"Like always they were amazing - that's no surprise," he said. "This is for them as well. They enjoy it like we do - maybe even more. It's amazing but now we have the league games and the FA Cup.

"I'll celebrate with my family and friends and I am really, really, really happy."
