Glen Johnson and Charlie Adam both recorded pass accuracies in the high nineties as Liverpool were in dominant form during Sunday's FA Cup fifth round tie against Brighton.

Opta statistics show how Adam - the only Liverpool midfielder to play the full 90 minutes - hit 59 passes, 96.6 per cent of which went to a man in a red shirt, while Johnson played 39 balls, with a 97.2 per cent completion rate.

Despite playing just 77 minutes, Steven Gerrard saw plenty of the ball, making 89 touches. The skipper also registered five efforts on goal, three of which were from outside Brighton's penalty area.

Luis Suarez took an impressive nine shots. Five of them were on target and one of them was headed into the back of the Kop net on 84 minutes.

Liverpoolfc.tv awarded him Man of the Match and the stats show how diligent he was on the day as the Uruguayan took more touches than any player who played the full 90 minutes (82). He also did his fair share of the defensive work, making three interceptions and three blocks.

Suarez's strike partner Andy Carroll, who also netted on 57 minutes, fired in five attempts in total and four of those were from inside Peter Brezovan's penalty area.

The statistics show how Liverpool piled the pressure on to Brighton's back four as Liverpool controlled the game.

Kenny Dalglish's side struck a massive 34 shots compared to Brighton's 10 and 33 crosses to the away team's 17. Of those efforts, 14 were on target and 21 came from inside the opposition penalty area. Brighton were also forced to make 33 clearances and defend nine corners.

No Brighton defender managed to get an effort on goal but between them Martin Skrtel, Johnson and Jose Enrique took four shots. Skrtel was alert to make three interceptions.

The Slovakian also played five clearances and four tackles.

The statistics show how Enrique was lively at full-back. He took more touches than any other Liverpool defender (69), he played more passes (47) and he launched himself into six tackles. The Spaniard was also the only Liverpool player to win 100 per cent of his aerial 'duels'.

In the midfield, Stewart Downing won 80 per cent of his 'duels' (a higher rate than any Liverpool midfielder), and fired in seven crosses and three shots on goal.

In the distribution stakes, the two sides were fairly well-matched. Liverpool played 477 passes while their opponents hit 449. Both had similar passing accuracy (Liverpool 88.1 per cent and Brighton 86.6 per cent).

Overall, Liverpool made 19 tackles compared to Brighton's 17. The Reds won 84.2 per cent of those challenges while their opponents emerged with possession from 70.6 per cent of theirs.

Only one yellow card was shown on the afternoon and that was to Liverpool-born Alan Navarro on 49 minutes.
