Andy Carroll believes he is ready to show his best form for Liverpool - and has spoken of his contentment with life in the city.

The No.9 was involved in both of the goals that sank Manchester United on Saturday, including a wonderful flicked header which put Dirk Kuyt through for the winner.

Carroll received plaudits from manager Kenny Dalglish afterwards, but the England forward is eager to share any credit with those who have helped him settle in.

"I think I'm just getting into my stride now," Carroll said. "Everyone is getting used to how I play and I'm getting used to everyone else.

"Everyone is backing me and helping me along the way. I thought I did well but now I've just got to keep on going and keep working on it and then it will come.

"I've signed a contract here and this is the team I'm playing for. I love it here.

"All the lads are great with me in training and away from the training ground as well. I've never regretted the move.

"The club has been great with me and I'm enjoying it."

Though our Manchester rivals dominated possession on Saturday lunchtime, Carroll thinks the 2-1 result was fair - and he says claiming the assist for our winner was a special moment.

"Obviously it was nice to get an assist but it doesn't really matter who sets them up or who scores them as long as we get through and we did that," he said.

"I thought everyone played well. We all put a shift in and we got the goal that we wanted at the end but we deserved the win."

Liverpool will now face Brighton in the last 16 of the FA Cup.

This follows progression to the Carling Cup final with an aggregate victory over Manchester City last Wednesday.

Carroll believes the last few days have been the perfect tonic after a frustrating defeat at Bolton just over a week ago which prompted an angry response from Dalglish.

The striker added: "It was disappointing against Bolton and we needed to put that right.

"We did that against Man City and then with Man Utd coming here all the lads were buzzing and I think it showed that everyone was up for it. I've never played in a Cup final before so going to Wembley with Liverpool will be great.

"To get to Wembley in midweek and then beat Man Utd, it's a great feeling. We've had two great wins back to back and now we need to carry that form on to Wolves on Tuesday night and then to Tottenham next week."
