Manchester United fan Paul Corrigan discusses Valencia, Bellamy and the return of King Kenny ahead of today's clash at Anfield.

Who were United fans cheering for on Wednesday night?

Was there a game on Wednesday night other than El Clasico?!

Good one! Okay, tell us some of your memories of Liverpool v Manchester United games down the years...

In terms of my favourite games, I think I'd have to pick a 3-1 United win at home in 1989, when United fell behind to a John Barnes goal and Mike Hooper looked seemingly unbeatable in the Liverpool goal! Brian McClair equalised with an overhead kick and Russell Beardsmore had an absolute blinder to inspire the win. In terms of the FA Cup, my favourite would have to be in 1999 when Solskjaer grabbed the winner in injury time after Owen had scored for Liverpool. I think I enjoyed that so much because of the sheer amount of Liverpool fans that were in Old Trafford and the atmosphere they created. Regardless of some people's perceptions of the FA Cup these days, I still love it because of the change in atmosphere with an increased away allocation. In terms of worst memories, it would have to be a 2-0 defeat at Anfield when Ian Rush scored his first goal against United to hand the title to Leeds in 1992. In more recent times, the 4-1 home defeat was awful, it's never nice to be hammered by your biggest rivals at home and Dossena's lob at the end was particularly hurtful.

How will Fergie play it on Saturday?

I can see similar tactics being employed as last Sunday away at Arsenal. Sit back, soak up the pressure and try to get Valencia away on the break.

Who poses United's biggest threat?

Craig Bellamy is Liverpool's most in-form player at the moment. He still possesses searing pace and his never-say-die attitude ensures that defenders don't get a moment's peace! He got a couple in United's 4-3 win over City at Old Trafford a couple of seasons ago and I'm sure he'd love to replicate that. Whether he can perform to that level or indeed be fit enough to start after a huge performance on Wednesday night, remains to be seen.

One Liverpool player who you'd rather see wearing a United shirt this weekend?

It's Steven Gerrard for me, without a doubt. It's been well documented that United have been light in the middle of the park this season (hence the return of Paul Scholes). The influence, drive and sheer quality that Gerrard brings to the Liverpool side has been there to see for a number of years now. He's reminds me of Bryan Robson and his performances for United in the Eighties.

If you were Kenny Dalglish, how would you go about beating Manchester United on Saturday?

Antonio Valencia has been superb for United of late. The key to Saturday's game will be winning the battle in the middle of the park and preventing Valencia being fed out wide, cutting the supply to United's front men.

Man City are challenging United for the title and are now a force in English football. This in mind, is Liverpool still Manchester United's biggest fixture?

Whilst the game with City is obviously becoming more than just bragging rights, the history between United and Liverpool guarantees that this game is still the biggest in world football. In global terms, City have a long way to go before they gain a reputation to match United and Liverpool's. On a local level, the rivalry between the fans, the cities themselves and the trophy count means that this fixture will remain the biggest for many years to come.

How do you think the season will end for United?

I think a lot will depend on how the cup tournaments go for United and how much Manchester City can hold their nerve towards the end of the season. United's squad isn't huge - as soon as Tom Cleverley got injured early on in the year, central midfield looked a problem area. It might be difficult keeping everyone fit and available if United progress in the FA Cup and the Europa League. I think if they do manage to be there or thereabouts at the end of the year, the pressure will be all on Manchester City and their inexperience in terms of a title race may well prove to be their downfall.

Prediction for Saturday's game?

Liverpool to be out of sorts after a big win on Wednesday night. Liverpool 0 Manchester United 2.
