Rodolfo Borrell has called upon his youngsters to repeat their Chelsea heroics when they entertain Bolton at the Academy this afternoon - a match you can watch live on LFC TV and LFC TV Online from 1.30pm GMT.

The reserves secured their first league win of the season when they overwhelmed the Londoners 3-1 in Kirkby last week.

The Spaniard concedes he was more than satisfied with the performance of his players on that occasion but is urging them not to underestimate the Trotters.

Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was important to get one game right in terms of the result. We were performing quite well but not getting the result.

"It is crucial that we build ourselves up week by week during the training sessions in order to improve because we have quite a young squad.

"I have never hidden the fact that winning is crucial for the development and everyone is happier after that win. The fact it was against Chelsea, who have a magnificent youth system and high profile players, means I am quite pleased. I think we put in a fantastic performance."

He continued: "Bolton have a good tradition and are quite competitive with some good players. It will be interesting to see how we react straight after the win over Chelsea. Sometimes the name of an opponent can make your squad more focused and we need to respect Bolton in exactly the same way if we are to get things right over 90 minutes.

"If we keep performing like we have in the past few weeks we will have a good chance of getting something out of the game."

It is almost six months since Borrell assumed the role of reserve team boss following a highly successful stint in charge of the U18s.

He admits the position has been somewhat challenging in that time but is completely committed to the overall objective of developing players for first-team duty.

He said: "It's been tough. I knew it would be a massive challenge with such a young squad. This is the way the club have wanted to approach the reserve set-up and I am completely behind the decision.

"It must be the next step straight after the U18s. The only problem is that most of the clubs don't think the same and we will maybe struggle against bigger and older sides.

"We are here to produce players for the first-team and we consider this to be the right way to go about it."
