Daniel Agger insists Liverpool will take a lot of confidence from keeping a clean sheet as the Reds returned to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League with a 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

After two successive 1-1 draws in the top-flight, the Danish international played his part as Kenny Dalglish's side secured a deserved victory and stretched their domestic league and cup unbeaten streak to seven games.

"It was so important for us to keep a clean sheet and that is always good for us defenders and great for the whole team as well," Agger told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"I thought we played well and deserved the three points. We are happy and we have to continue this form and keep winning games.

"I think we can take a lot from this result and we now look ahead to the next game against Swansea at home and try and get another three points."

Dalglish's charges secured the victory thanks to a penalty from Charlie Adam and a strike from Andy Carroll.

Adam showed nerves of steel to send Ben Foster the wrong way from 12 yards out, despite the initial efforts of the West Brom players to put him off.

Agger said: "It was nice to see Andy score a good goal and I had no doubt Charlie would score. They tried to put him off but that doesn't bother Charlie."

Agger made his 100th top-flight appearance in the No.5 jersey and has now set his sights on achieving a double century.

The Dane added: "It's special to play 100 league games for Liverpool and it has been a long time coming because of the unlucky injuries I have had.

"Hopefully now I can have an injury free run and I hope now to keep on going and play another 100 games for this club.

"I am enjoying my football now. I feel I have been unlucky with injuries and hopefully I can get some good luck now because it means a lot to me to play for this club."
