Jordan Henderson has saluted Andy Carroll for his 'brilliant' display in the Carling Cup win at Stoke City.

The No.9 played his part in a vibrant attacking performance from the Reds at the Britannia Stadium and Henderson feels he was a key figure in the victory.

"I thought Andy was brilliant," Henderson said. "He worked really hard, closed defenders down, won a lot of headers and had a few chances himself.

"He contributed a lot and we all know what we can do.

"I don't think there's a problem with Andy's belief. He's a good player and he shows that in training every day."
