Andy Carroll has labelled his derby debut goal as the best moment of his Liverpool career so far and promptly dedicated the strike to Kenny Dalglish and the club's supporters.

The England striker was on the mark for the first time in the Barclays Premier League this season and admitted it gave him a lot of satisfaction.

"The goal is for everyone really, Kenny, the other lads and the fans. Everyone who has stood by me," said Carroll.

"It is a great feeling but it doesn't really matter who scores the goals as long as we get the three points and I thought it was great we did it here.

"This is by far the highlight of my time here, easily.

"It was a good result and it was nice to get on the score sheet. It felt great.

"The lads played well and deserved it. I just remember Bellers (Craig Bellamy) running down the wing, Jose on the overlap and putting a great ball in. Dirk (Kuyt) let it run and I was lucky enough to finish it."

The striker believes Dalglish's charges have made a promising start to the season and claims there is a lot more to come from the team.

Carroll said: "We have been doing well. Obviously there was a blip against Tottenham but the lads have been keeping together and we showed that spirit in the derby.

"Scoring against Everton and beating them at their place is special but you have to keep it going.

"The dressing room was just buzzing afterwards. Everyone was over the moon.

"We've got Man United next game and I've got to make sure I keep doing well week in and week out now.

"We are a new team and we are still gelling together.

"That's what we have got to do, stick to the performance that we have produced here and I am sure we will be up there."

Liverpool's No.9 admitted he had a feeling he could score on his derby debut after a chat with former Newcastle teammate Jose Enrique in training.

He added: "I had been speaking with Jose and I told him that I fancied getting my first of the season here. Before the game, I thought 'this is the day'."

Carroll also spoke about his blossoming strike partnership with Luis Suarez after the pair both netted at Goodison Park.

"I think we have done well in the games we have played together," he said.

"We have got a big squad and we have done well in training.

"Whether it is me and Luis, Dirk and Luis or Bellers, I think we have all done well together."
