John Aldridge believes Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday illustrated the quality Kenny Dalglish has at his disposal this season.

Goals from Jordan Henderson, Martin Skrtel and Charlie Adam secured the three points the Reds' effervescent performance deserved, and briefly sent them to the top of the Barclays Premier League table.

Aldridge was left delighted by the stylish manner of Liverpool's display and feels it demonstrated exactly what Kenny Dalglish's summer transfer business has brought to Anfield.

"How pleasing it was to see Liverpool back on top of the Premier League table on Saturday, even if it was just for 24 hours or so," he said.

"The performance against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday was really good, and we were deserved and convincing winners.

"From the word go, we were full of energy, movement and, crucially, pace. We have struggled badly in recent years due to a lack of pace in wide areas, but that issue seems to have been addressed this season.

"It was also great to see both Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam on the scoresheet, and to see Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique continue their impressive starts to their Anfield careers.

"All of the new lads seem to have settled in really quickly at the club, and Kenny seems to have done a real good job with the team spirit and the togetherness within the squad.

"Of course, winning games helps. It takes so much pressure off players, and allows them to play with freedom and confidence. You can see that every time they step out onto the pitch at the moment, they want to play well, and they want to encourage each other."

Liverpool have played with an attacking brand of football under Dalglish, and Daniel Agger was quick to hail the manager's pass and move philosophy following the Bolton win.

It's a view shared by Aldo.

"I thought Daniel Agger summed up the mood nicely in his post-match comments when he said he was enjoying playing in a side which plays good football," added the former Reds striker.

"Kenny has got them playing by the old 'pass and move' rules, and has taken them back to the old style of training, and the benefits are there for all to see.

"Liverpool play the ball on the ground, they play with movement, with energy and with width. It is no surprise that Agger, a ball-playing defender who likes to bring the ball out and start attacks, is in his element at the moment."
