Jay Spearing believes Martin Kelly would thoroughly deserve a place in the England squad should he be called up for the forthcoming Euro 2011 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales.

Fabio Capello spoke in glowing terms about the Reds youngster after watching him produce an impressive display at right-back during Saturday's 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium, and hinted he could be set to make him Liverpool's newest England international.

Spearing is very close on and off the field with Kelly having come through the Academy together, and the midfielder insists Kelly has a lot to offer the national team.

"I have come through the ranks with Kells (Kelly) and it is great to be involved in the first team squad together.

"He would deserve an England call-up. He was on a roll last season when Kenny took over and was just unlucky to get injured at West Ham.

"He got a bit of banter from the lads about the way he went down, but with a hamstring injury there is nothing you can do and it does take time before you are ready to come back.

"He showed again at Arsenal exactly what he is capable of doing and I think he will go on to better things."
