Daniel Agger has set his sights on a run of shut-outs as Liverpool enter the final straight in their preparations for the 2011-12 campaign.

The Reds have struggled to keep opponents at bay during pre-season and the Dane admits they must improve defensively.

"It just wasn't good enough, especially in the first half," Agger said following the 3-3 draw against Valerenga.

"The second half was okay but it wasn't what it needs to be.

"We need to show we can keep a clean sheet and we have got to defend better."

Liverpool will be hoping to plug the gaps at the back in time for Saturday's final pre-season encounter against Valencia.

Kenny Dalglish has already spoken of his desire to rectify the situation on the training pitch and Agger is confident they will get it right ahead of the Barclays Premier League kick off.

"Kenny has his way of getting his point across," Agger said.

"He has said himself that we need to be streetwise.

"That is what we have got to do.

"If you are a footballer, you have to be a perfectionist.

"There is definitely something to work on."

Meanwhile Pepe Reina echoed Agger's comments after making his first appearance since returning from injury in Oslo.

He said: "We have a lot of work ahead of us as we cannot afford to concede so many goals. To let in three is not our identity.

"We have some new signings and we are still working them into our system."

He added: "We have to be optimistic but we were far behind last year. We need to make sure that we improve."

Tickets for Saturday's friendly with Valencia are now available via the ticket office window at Anfield or the L1 Store in the City Centre and via the phones on 0843 170 5555. Tickets start at £18 but will be £22 at the turnstiles on the day.
