Champions League-winning duo Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino will be back on the trophy trail this summer as they seek to secure the 2019 Copa America for Brazil.

Brazil last won the continental tournament in 2007, but as hosts of this year's edition are among the favourites to lift the trophy, alongside Argentina and Uruguay.

Reds pair Firmino and Alisson joined up with the rest of Tite's squad last week and both featured in the Selecao's final warm-up match ahead of Friday's Copa America curtain-raiser against Bolivia.

Returning to the fold following their Champions League exertions with Liverpool, Alisson was immediately restored as Brazil's No.1 and Firmino scored from the bench to help his nation thrash Honduras 7-0 in Porto Alegre on Sunday.

Tite's side will play their Copa America opener against Bolivia and final Group A game versus Peru in Sao Paulo, with a 1,500km trip up the coast to Salvador sandwiched in between for a clash with Venezuela.

Brazil's Copa America group fixtures (local time)

  • Brazil v Bolivia - Friday, June 14, 9.30pm - Estadio Morumbi, Sao Paulo
  • Brazil v Venezuela - Tuesday, June 18, 9.30pm - Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador
  • Peru v Brazil - Saturday, June 22, 4pm - Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo

Alisson has won 27 of his 35 Brazil caps under Tite and has been the manager's preferred choice in goal, ahead of Manchester City's Ederson, since soon after the former Corinthians coach was appointed to the national team in June 2016. The 26-year-old goalkeeper played every minute of Brazil's five games at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Firmino, meanwhile, has had to battle with City's Gabriel Jesus for the Selecao's central striking slot and had to settle for four substitute appearances at the World Cup.

However, the LFC No.9 has been given the nod in the majority of matches since Russia 2018 and the Brazilian media expect Firmino to be handed a starting role at the Copa America as the hosts chase their ninth title.

This year's tournament is comprised of 10 CONMEBOL nations – Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela – plus two invited guests in Japan and 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar.

Split into three groups of four teams, the winners and runners-up from each pool will advance to the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed teams.

The final will be played at the Maracana on July 7.

Chile are the defending champions, having beaten Argentina on penalties in 2016 to add to their debut title in 2015, while Uruguay are the most successful nation overall with 15 triumphs.
