LFC Foundation will deliver a new Football Association-accredited course this summer aimed at primary school teachers and those considering the profession.

The FA Primary Teachers Award provides candidates with an introduction to the skills, knowledge and understanding required to plan and deliver high-quality KS1 or KS2 Physical Education lessons.

Tutors will demonstrate how football can be used to deliver parts of the new National Curriculum, with the course including workshops on the basic principles of movement and skills-based games for five to 11-year-olds, alongside how to run a school sports team.

Participants will learn the importance of high-quality Physical Education delivery in schools and how PE is intrinsic to developing a child’s confidence, self-belief and self-esteem. Content will also be provided that supports and accelerates pupil learning.

Two cohorts will take place at Anfield Sports and Community Centre on May 1 and June 19 respectively, with places offered on a first come, first served basis.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be either a qualified and practising primary teacher, a registered B.Ed. or PGCE student, or a teaching assistant responsible for PE delivery.
