Liverpool Football Club’s official charity, the LFC Foundation, this week hosted a Premier League Schools Tournament in partnership with football’s equality and inclusion organisation, Kick It Out.

Before the tournament, there was a workshop from John Au from the Anthony Walker Foundation on key topics such as equality and the prevention of hate crime.

The morning ended with a presentation from Kick It Out in which individual awards were given out, such as Goal of the Day and Best Attitude Award, before each child was given a medal for their participation in the tournament and to remind them of the significance of equality and diversity.

In conjunction with the Premier League, the club’s official charity helps to deliver PE lessons to the youngsters in a host of locations in the city, including the Kirkby-based training facilities.

The Liverpool FC Foundation delivers National Curriculum PE lessons to different year groups throughout the school to help keep pupils fit and healthy and also support a well-rounded education.

Andrea Cooper, head of the LFC Foundation, added: “It is brilliant for the LFC Foundation to be able to support the Premier League’s School Sports Programme alongside key organisations such as Kick It Out and the Anthony Walker Foundation.

“As much as we love to promote exercise alongside the Premier League, today’s tournament was also about promoting the importance of equality and diversity not just in sport but in life in general.”
