Liverpool FC’s stadium tour has won the ‘Best Tours for Locals’ category at the GetYourGuideAwards 2020.

The annual awards recognise the best tours and activities across the UK and Republic of Ireland, with this year’s nominations focusing on local travel experiences amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Winners were chosen by the local community, with more than 2,800 travellers voting for their favourite experiences based on criteria including good reviews, customer excellence, differentiation, and contribution to the local community.

Tom Cassidy, senior manager, tourism at Liverpool FC, said: “We were delighted to be able to welcome fans back to the LFC stadium tour and museum in June following a three-month closure, and we have worked hard to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for guests in line with social distancing and new industry guidelines.

“It’s fantastic to be recognised for the efforts the team has made during these difficult times, as well as the fantastic experience we continue to provide to fans and visitors alike.”

LFC’s stadium tour and museum remains open to the public following the latest government announcement on October 12. However, guests must book in advance, wear a face covering and should only visit with members of their household or support bubble.

To ensure visitor safety, extensive health and safety measures have been implemented, making the tour and museum a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Capacity is limited to allow visitors to maintain social distancing, alongside the installation of hand sanitiser stations and the addition of enhanced cleaning regimes.

The stadium tour and museum has been awarded 'Good To Go' status, an industry standard mark designed by Visit England and recognised by the National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This confirms that all government and industry guidelines have been followed, a risk assessment is in place and processes have been implemented to maintain cleanliness and social distancing.
