Young Liverpool supporters are gearing up to learn how to play the Liverpool way in Australia this week as the LFC International Academy celebrates the launch of its coaching programmes in Lismore, New South Wales.

Delivered by the LFC International Academy New South Wales in partnership with Southern Cross University, the eagerly anticipated launch is the result of months of planning and a rigorous coaching recruitment process which has followed since the academy’s official launch in April 2016.

The coaching activity will be led by James Gow who was appointed as the academy’s head coach in June.

Liverpool born and bred, James has made Lismore his home and brings with him a wealth of experience from his time as a LFC academy coach at the club’s permanent youth training facility in Kirkby.

Supported by a new team of experienced coaches, the launch sees months of preparation finally come into fruition.

Gow said: "It’s a really exciting time at the moment. We’ve been putting our coaches through a rigorous development programme to ensure they truly understand 'The Liverpool Way' and the standards expected when they have the crest on their shirts.

"I am really confident that the team we have put together are capable of delivering a really innovative programme, and one totally authentic to that of the academy in the UK."

A variety of programmes will be available from the New South Wales Academy which will encompass full time academy teams, development squads and soccer schools throughout the state.

Activities will take place at Southern Cross University’s state of the art football centre in Lismore plus other locations across New South Wales, with all sessions following LFC’s unique coaching curriculum and player development programme.

Three day soccer clinics will kick off the programme, commencing in Lismore on September 26 before moving onto Tweed and Coffs Harbour on September 30 and October 5 respectively. Further clinics and coaching events at venues around the state will be announced over the coming weeks.

Scott Collis, general manager of SCU’s football centre said: "We recognise that delivering any Liverpool programme is a huge responsibility.

"Liverpool Football Club is the world's greatest football family and we are excited about offering a great experience for young players in New South Wales where they will feel a part of that family.”

The Liverpool International Academy NSW will also soon announce details of their first full time academy programme in Lismore with an academy launch event planned on Tuesday September 20.

Collis added: “Our full time academy programme will bring together the fantastic Southern Cross Football Centre facility, input from Southern Cross University’s excellent sports science department and the proven methodology of one of the world’s great clubs.

"Whether you are a player looking for a single night addition to your existing club training or a full three nights a week academy, we will offer professionally supported and delivered practices designed to develop successful young people wherever their path leads. We can’t wait to get started."
