Neil Mellor has highlighted the superb contribution from midfielder Alexis Mac Allister during Liverpool’s 4-0 win at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.

During his regular post-match Review Show, which is now available to watch on LFCTV GO, former Reds striker Mellor analysed a display from Jürgen Klopp’s men that claimed victory at Vitality Stadium and stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

“Mac Allister was absolutely magnificent,” he said. “He was really involved throughout the game and he makes it look so simple because of the way he reads the game.

“His ability to win the ball back was brilliant, winning the ball high and setting up attacks.

“He was everywhere and he got a big hug from the manager at the end – well deserved.”

Mellor also singled out Diogo Jota, who netted twice on the south coast after producing the assist for Darwin Nunez’s opener.

“What a player Jota is,” he continued. “Mo Salah is away and players have to step up, and he certainly is.

“It’s Jota’s all-round game, I love the way he works hard to win that ball back – he’s just an absolute nuisance for the opposition defence. His all-round contribution was magnificent.”
