Liverpool U18s hope to clinch qualification for the quarter-finals of the U18 Premier League Cup when they host Sunderland on Saturday.

Steven Gerrard's side secured a dramatic 2-1 win over the young Black Cats in the league last week, and will be aiming for another victory over the north-east outfit at the Kirkby Academy.

The U18s have started Group D in fine style, sealing a thrilling 4-3 victory over Middlesbrough in their opener and thrashing West Ham United 6-0 away from home in their last game in the competition.

The young Reds will need to top their section to ensure a place in the quarter-finals.

The two best second-placed teams in the six groups will claim a last-eight berth, too.

Sunderland have also won their opening two games, so the victors of this tie will advance to the quarter-final.
