Glen McAuley scored twice as Liverpool U18s produced a clinical away display to beat Stoke City 5-1 on Saturday.

Neil Critchley’s side were 3-0 up at half-time and warmed up for next weekend’s FA Youth Cup third round date against Crystal Palace in fine style.

Dubliner McAuley has now taken his tally to 13 goals this season at U18 level.

Also on the mark were George Johnston, Rafael Camacho and a first goal at this level for Curtis Jones.

Reflecting on the victory, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: “We have played much better than that and only drawn in some of our previous games, and 5-1 flattered us a bit to be honest.

“It’s always nice to get a good result but for us it’s overall performances that are the main thing and we can play better.

“Glen scored two really good goals again and is doing really well, and it was nice to see young Curtis get his first goal at U18 level.

“It’s a good result to go into the FA Youth Cup tie with Crystal Palace next weekend and we were so clinical in front of goal which was pleasing.”

Liverpool U18s: Grabara, Lattie, A Lewis, Masterson (Driscoll-Glennon 80), Johnston, Coyle, Adekanye, Jones, McAuley, Brewster (Camacho 65), Dhanda (Hunter 75).
