Sergi Canos insists he aims to make the most of his loan spell with Brentford as he tries to gain more experience to help him achieve his Liverpool dream.

The 18-year-old former Barcelona starlet is at Griffin Park until January 2016 and is hoping to make a big impression at Griffin Park.

Canos knows playing Championship football is a big step-up from life at the Academy, but he is eager to get started with a potential debut against Leeds United on Saturday.

Speaking with Brentford's official website, he said: “I’m feeling very good. I’m really happy to be here.

"I think it’s an ideal club to play for so I’m really happy.

“I’m really looking forward to start, play and learn. All the team, and my teammates, are really nice and they have welcomed me really well.”

The talented Spaniard has played on the right wing and in central attack for the U21s, and he is happy to keep his playing options open to help the Bees.

He added: “I think I’m more of a winger than a striker.

“But I don’t mind playing striker or on the wing. I think I’m faster but can also be strong against the centre-backs.”

As Sergi prepares for a temporary life in the south of England, away from the pitch the Canos family have settled well into life on Merseyside since their arrival in 2013.

They are about to open a new restaurant situated on a famous street in Liverpool inspired by a famous tune from the Beatles.

He added: “My family are opening a restaurant in Liverpool by Penny Lane called Gracias. When I have days off I will go to check everything but my father is the manager so it should be okay.

“I have a lot of family living in Liverpool so they can come by train sometimes to visit.”
